FERATUM. The 14th edition of the fantasy and horror film festival that takes place every year was announced. From November 3 to 9, the International Fantastic Film Festival in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. This year the programming includes 20 feature films, six national, 11 international and three out of competition. The Mexican debuts “Seres” by Sandro Arceo and “Estela” by Adrián Araujo (qpd), will be the opening and closing films, respectively. At the closing of the festival, a posthumous tribute will also be paid to Adrian Araujo, died last March 11. Among other activities, the “March of the Beasts” will take place, in which the community and tourists of Pátzcuaro dress up as zombies, werewolves, vampires and other horror characters.
MORBID IN ITS 17TH EDITION
Mórbido Film Fest, the most important fantasy and horror film festival in Latin America, arrives with its 17th Edition, from October 29 to November 9. This year, the festival received 379 materials from 47 countries, a reflection of its international prestige and its growing influence within the film circuit. Throughout 12 days of programming, 53 feature films and 45 short films will be presented. Among the most anticipated Mexican films is the world premiere of “Your Two Dead”, directed by Daniel Castro Zimbrón, one of the seven national productions that are part of this edition. In total, the festival presents 2 world premieres, 2 American premieres, 25 Latin American premieres and 5 Mexican premieres, consolidating its role as a launching platform for unpublished productions.
DON’T FOLLOW ME (Blumhouse)
The film was chosen for the inaugural screening of Mórbido with the presence of the film’s cast and directors, one day before its premiere on more than 900 screens nationwide on October 30, through Cinépolis Distribución. No Me Sigas represents the best of contemporary Mexican horror cinema, combining Blumhouse’s signature supernatural atmosphere with a deeply current story: the danger of wanting to belong and be relevant in the digital world regardless of the consequences of invoking the unknown. The film follows Carla, a young woman who seeks to be relevant in the paranormal world and fakes encounters with supernatural entities, without knowing that there is a real supernatural presence in her house that will relentlessly stalk her. Directed by brothers Ximena and Eduardo Lecuona and starring Karla Coronado (A Bad Actor), Julia Maqueo (Mujeres Asesinas) and Yankel Stevan (Control Z), the film was secretly filmed in Mexico City and offers 82 minutes of tension and modern horror, with a captivating visual aesthetic and a script that connects with a generation that is willing to try new things in order to experience fear firsthand.
FRANKELDA (Cinépolis Distribution)
The Ambriz brothers created the fantastic universe of ‘Soy Frankelda’, a ‘symphony’ of Mexican ‘rebellion’. The production process of the unique film took more than four years, three dedicated to filming and one to post-production, distribution and festivals. Since October 23, movie theaters in Mexico opened their doors to a fresh premiere: ‘Soy Frankelda’, the first Mexican film made entirely in stop motion animation, directed by brothers Arturo and Roy Ambriz. The film marks a new chapter within the universe of Frankelda’s Hidden Scares, the anthology series available on HBO Max. This time, the story revolves around Frankelda, a Mexican writer of horror stories who lives in the mid-19th century. Unlike the series, where the stories she wrote were recreated, the film explores her origins: a woman who is not allowed to write or tell her stories, and who decides to travel to her own imagination to confront her internal monsters.
GOOD BOY: TRUST YOUR INSTINCT (Zima Entertainment)
Good Boy will arrive in Mexico in October 2025. After passing through the SXSW Film & TV 2025 festival, what began as an independent film became one of the most anticipated releases of this year. Although the horror genre is not uncommon, the film directed by Ben Leonberg presents the story from a perspective that makes the difference. It is a 2025 supernatural horror film in which the protagonist is a dog. In the past, films like Lassie, Always by Your Side, The Reason for Being With You and Marley and I confirmed that there is a high level of acceptance for this type of narrative. However, Good Boy: Trust Your Instinct leaves aside stories of romance and hope to delve into terror. Good Boy is told from Indy’s perspective and appeals to the belief that dogs have the sensitivity to perceive what the human eye cannot see, offering an unusual vision where words are not necessary to create tension and connect intimately. The film took around 400 days over 3 years to film, and is told from Indy’s point of view. For horror lovers, this offers a new way to tell stories. It premieres on October 30
6 EXORCISMS (Dark Side)
6 Exorcisms, directed by Won-Kyung Choi, is a Korean film that presents six horror stories connected by a rookie reporter. Korean horror deviates greatly from what is customary in the West, with an extra story that opens and closes the film. All narratives intertwine in a final ritual full of mystery and horror. Young reporter Si-kyung infiltrates a secret religious cult. What begins as an undercover investigation soon turns into an unspeakable nightmare, when she is invited to witness a forbidden ritual in which each member makes a wish and offers a sacrifice. One by one, the faithful tell the terrifying story of how they achieved it… each story is more chilling and bloody than the last. When Si-kyung’s turn comes, she discovers to her horror that all sacrifices must be human body parts. These offerings are not simple tests of faith, but pieces of a macabre plan: to give life to an ancient entity, a being that waits in the shadows to claim the flesh and soul of all those present. The ritual has begun… and with it, the awakening of absolute evil. It premieres on October 30.
