CDMX. After 25 years since it was made in Mexico, the king of musicals, “The Phantom of the Opera”returned, after a year after producer Morris Gilbert broke the news that he would make it again. The expectation was great, and after seeing it in the renewed Insurgentes Theater, It is safe to say that it exceeded expectations, its meticulous casting was worth it, since they got the right actors, the performances are excellent. However, the singer and actor stands out Edward Salles in his role as “The Phantom” as he manages to move the viewer to tears.
THE RED CARPET
The call for the media was at 5:30 p.m. to see some of the final details with which they would receive their famous guests. A stand with the iconic chandelier and a pair of masks, for the official photo, and a huge red carpet crossed the lobby from side to side, joy and nerves flooded the venue; while Lina de la Peña insured for Canton Group: “I am full of emotion because it is the opening night, for this role I have prepared my entire life in singing and acting. I will bring Christine Daaé to life and I have nothing but happiness and gratitude, I will give everything on stage,” said the soprano who has a solid artistic training who already played Cosette in “Les Miserables” and stands out as a great promise.
The doors opened and great personalities appeared behind Morris Gilbertwho looked happy in a black suit that looked like a starry night. We saw the divas of film and TV arrive, Norma Lazareno, Jacqueline Andere and Luz María Aguilar paraded followed by Maya Zapata, Mónica Huarte, Tiaré Scanda, Alma Cero and Roberto Sosa who told us that “She is currently working on the production “on the tip of her nose” with Morris Gilbert, celebrating 45 years of experience and preparing a series for Nexflix” she narrated.
The singers Lidia Ávila and Kika Edgar also arrived, who by the way advanced to Canton Group: “I am happy to come to see this great staging, which is wonderful that it is presented in Mexico and I tell you that on December 6 I am going to the lunarium with my show “Corazón Roto Tour” he said; and Faisy who entered the room almost at the end to greet friends. The conversations were of excitement to see the masterful staging again, which it should be noted surprised by its special effects, a stage with a life of its own that moves and expands, the orchestra with 15 musicians, crowned by a ghostly monumental organ, which emerges from the bowels of the theater converted into an opera

They get to have brief interactions with the public and get their shouts of joy, surprise, fright; and going towards the end, with the performances of Lina as Christine and Edward as The Phantomthey perform a song that speaks of impossible love, of betrayal, but also of the depth of feeling that understands that it will never feel the same again… The tears flow irremediably in the excited spectators.
