Several flights were canceled or diverted after at least one drone was spotted this Thursday, November 6, near Landvetter airport in Gothenburg, western Sweden, authorities and the airport operator said.

“The airspace over Landvetter is currently closed due to the suspicious presence of a drone”said the chief executive of Swedish airport operator Swedavia, Susanne Norman, in a statement.

Swedish air traffic control spokesman Bjorn Stavas said traffic was halted after at least one unmanned aircraft was spotted shortly before 6pm local time (5pm Lisbon).

The Landvetter airport website states that several flights have been cancelled, delayed or diverted to other airports.

Earlier this week, the presence of unidentified drones at Brussels’ main airport led to the cancellation of around 80 flights.
