The calendar of basic education tests and national secondary exams for the 2025-2026 academic year was published on Tuesday, December 9th.

The order, signed by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, “approves the calendar, for the 2025-2026 academic year, of the Learning Monitoring tests (ModA), the final tests of basic education, the tests of equivalence to the attendance of basic education, the national final exams of secondary education and the tests of equivalence to the attendance of secondary education”.

A schedule that aims to “ensure that the implementation of the external assessment process occurs in a balanced way, providing students with the best conditions to take the tests, which are essential for supporting teaching and learning”, reads the document.

With regard to Learning Monitoring tests (ModA), From May 27th to June 9th, 4th year students take the Artistic Education test. Portuguese is scheduled for June 2nd and Mathematics for June 5th.

6th year students have the English test on May 29th, the Portuguese test on June 3rd and the Portuguese test on June 8th.

In relation to the final exams of Basic Education, the order determines that the first phase is the June 17th, with 9th year students taking the Portuguese test on that date at 9:30 am (shift 1) and at 12:00 pm (shift 2).

In the second phase, a June 22nd, 9th year students have a Mathematics test at 9:30 am (shift 1) and at 12:00 pm (shift 2).

The publication of agendas for these two phases is scheduled for July 14th, with the results of the review processes being published on August 6th.

Still in relation to the final tests of Basic Education, the 9th year Portuguese test is scheduled for July 16th (9:30 am) and the Mathematics test is scheduled for July 20th, also at 9:30 am.

Regarding the timing of national secondary education final exams, the order published in Diário da República, in force from this Wednesday, stipulates that, in the first phase, 12th year students will take the Portuguese exam on June 16th (9:30 am) and, on the same day, 11th year students will take the Economics A exam.

On June 17th, 11th grade students have the Descriptive Geometry A exam (9:30 am). On the same day, but at 11 am, this school year’s exams will be held for the subjects of German, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin and Mandarin.

Year 11 students will take Biology and Geology tests on June 18th and Geography A on June 19th. On June 22nd, they will take the History B, History of Culture and Arts and Portuguese Literature exams. That same day, 12th year students have their History A exam scheduled.

On June 23, 11th year students have exams in Mathematics B, Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences and English. On the same day, the 12th year Mathematics A exam takes place.

On June 25th, the 11th year Physics and Chemistry A exam is scheduled and on June 26th, the Drawing A exam for the 12th year and Philosophy for the 11th year.

The posting of agendas is scheduled for July 14th and the results of the review processes should be known on August 6th.

Regarding the second phase of national exams, they begin on July 16th with Portuguese for 12th year students and Geography A for 11th year students.

On July 17th it is time for the 11th year exams in Physics and Chemistry A, Portuguese Literature, Economics A, History of Culture and Arts and Latin

On the day July 20th, the 12th year Mathematics A exam takes place. On the same day, 11th year students are scheduled to take the Mathematics B, Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences and Philosophy exams.

On July 21st, it is the turn of 12th year students to take the History A exam and 11th year students to take the Biology and Geology, History B, Descriptive Geometry A, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Mandarin exams.

Finally, the July 22nd, Drawing A exams for the 12th year and English for the 11th year are scheduled.

In this second phase, the publication of the agendas is scheduled for August 5th and the publication of the results of the review processes for August 28th.
