The Attorney General’s Office of Michoacán (FGE) issued a search warrant after the disappearance of Francisco Leonel Campos Vargas, former councilor of the municipality of Zacapu, southwest of the capital Morelia. With him, there are two former public officials from Michoacán who have disappeared in recent days.
Campos Vargas was last seen on November 3 around 7:05 p.m. in Zacapu. Since that moment his whereabouts have been unknown, “therefore there are fears for his integrity, since he may be the victim of a crime,” the document reads.

The disappearance report was made on November 6. The last time he was seen he was wearing a brown, checkered jacket; black long-sleeved shirt, black dress pants and brown shoes.
Just last November 7th, The former mayor of the municipality of Zinapécuaro, Alejandro Correa, was found alive after missing for three days. The former councilor was last seen in Hidalgo.

Faced with the wave of violence that hits Michoacán, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justicewhich comes days after the murder of the former mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo.
The aim is to contain violence, combat extortion and eliminate drug trafficking in the region. It has an investment of 57 billion pesos and every month there will be progress on the strategy in Las Mañaneras del Pueblo.
