Build Your City exhibition uses Lego blocks to explore ideas about responsible mobility, green spaces


He Papalote Children’s Museum inaugurated the renewed exhibition Build your cityan interactive space developed with the toy brand Lego that invites childhoods to imagine what things should be like cities of the future from the gamecreativity and active participation.

During the presentation, Alejandra Cervantes Mascareño, general director of the museum, stressed that “The experience seeks to get girls and boys to question and propose solutions for more inclusive and sustainable urban environments.“.

“It is one more step towards having more sustainable cities, to encourage our children to question not only what the city they live in is like but also how it should be and how I imagine it can impact this city,” he said.

The exhibition uses Lego blocks to explore ideas about responsible mobility, green spaces, efficient use of resources and accessibility.

Each module allows the little ones to “think with their hands”, in line with the philosophy of Francesco Tonucci, taken up by the museum.

Installed activities

From combinations and free constructions, Visitors can design neighborhoods, pedestrian zones, urban gardens and solutions for a city that works better for all its inhabitants.

Mascareño highlighted that the renovation process involved rethinking the current needs of children’s audiences: “We have to question, we have to ask our children if they like it, if it entertains them, if they understand what we want to convey to them, and that is exactly the exercise we have been working on for months.He also stated that diversity and inclusion are in the DNA of the proposal.

Brenda Quevedorepresentative of Lego Mexico Groupstressed that this alliance between the toy brand and the venue is committed to meaningful learning through play.

The tour integrates ideas such as electric vehiclesecological urbanization and urban agricultureinviting the children themselves to propose solutions: “We invite you to explore and reimagine what an ecological and sustainable city could be like.”, he concluded.
