The theme of the Tragedy of the Glory Elevator has definitely entered the local campaign in Lisbon. This Saturday, October 4, Alexandra Leitão and Carlos Coins exchanged accusations, following an advanced news by RTP who reported family members of victims and injured who will never have been contacted by the Lisbon City Council (CML).
In Benfica, the socialist candidate accused the Lisbon mayor of lying. “They want to elect someone who lied, someone who dodged clarification with the argument that he was supporting the victims and wasn’t?” Asked Alexandra Leitão.
The candidate also accused coins of “a total lack of empathy, a total lack of sensitivity and, more serious, of being someone who, yesterday, when confronted with this situation, said it was fake because he had spoken to everyone; and then, at night, in a statement, he admitted that after all he had not talked to everyone, but only those who went to the House,” he said, regarding RTP news.
