The municipality of coahuayana, Michoacanwoke up today immersed in fear, uncertainty and under an intense security device that militarized its streets, in direct response to the attack perpetrated with a car bomb last Saturday night in the center of the municipality, directed directly against the Police Communitywhich is already being investigated as an act of terrorism.
The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) reported that it reinforced security in the area by sending 205 infantry elements, 21 vehicles, five helicopters, six doctors and 12 nurses from the Naval Health Service.
Security specialists point to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) as the possible perpetrator, although there are still no arrests or progress in the investigation.
Researchers in Coahuayana, Michoacán
In a press conference held this Sunday afternoon, the prosecutor of Michoacan, Carlos Torres Piñaupdated the figures of the attack: five dead – three community police and two more people whose identity is unknown – and seven self-defense members injured, six of them remain in hospitals in the municipality and one more in Morelia.
In addition, he said that damage was reported to 12 vehicles and several properties located in the area of the explosion.
He reiterated that there are about 30 people from the Prosecutor’s Office General of the Republicbetween experts and federal ministerial police, both from the agency Investigation Criminal (AIC), specialized in field criminology, forensic lophoscopy, land traffic, fires and explosives, chemistry and forensic ballistics, among other things.
They react to the attack
Regarding the terrorist attack, Guadalupe Mora Chavezhead of tenure of The Ruanamunicipality of Buenavistahe wrote in his account Facebook: “That narrative of terror is what organized crime tries to dictate in our land today: they want us on our knees, silent and resigned.”

The municipal president of coahuayanaAndrés Aguilar Mendoza, published a message on his social networks addressed to the population, in which he called on neighbors to remain united, support each other and maintain hope.
For his part, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla went to Coahuayana to supervise the care provided by the different agencies to those affected.
Attack in February
On the afternoon of February 22, another car bomb exploded at the entrance to Coahuayana, with no deaths or injuries reported.
The explosion shook houses throughout the town and was heard in neighboring communities such as Aquila and Cerro de Ortega.
