Given the important changes in the weather that will be caused by a new cold front in the northwest of the country, the Government of Mexico, through the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), asked the population to adopt preventive measures.
According to him National Weather Service (SMN), today cold front number 14 will travel through the north of the country, causing strong gusts of wind, although at night the atmospheric system will move towards the south of the United States and will stop influencing Mexico.
Nevertheless, The agency warned that a new cold front will approach the northwest of the country that, in interaction with a polar trough, a cyclonic circulation and the effect of polar and subtropical jet streams, will cause a marked drop in temperature and strong winds in the region.

A phenomenon that will also cause showers and heavy rains in the states of Baja California and Sonora, as well as the possible fall of snow or sleet in mountain areas of both entities.
The report also specified that, on November 18 and 19, low pressure channels in the center, south and southeast of the country, together with the entry of humidity from the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico, will cause rains and showers in those regions and in the Yucatan Peninsula, in addition to heavy rains in Chiapas.
And he warned that “The cold to very cold environment” will be in the mornings and evenings in the North Table and Central Table of the countrywith possible frost at dawn.

In that sense, the CNPC recommended “keeping roofs, drains and drains clean, avoiding crossing rivers, streams or flooded areas, driving with caution in the rain and reporting any structure at risk to Civil Protection.”
He also advised “wearing warm clothing in layers, avoiding stoves or gas heaters in closed spaces, seeking medical attention for symptoms of hypothermia and protecting pets and livestock.”
In areas with strong winds, the CNPC suggested that the population “secure objects that could become detached, avoid taking refuge under trees or unstable structures and drive with caution due to possible dust devils.”
Cold fronts in the country occur from September to May, in the fall to spring season. For the winter of 2025-2026, 54 are predicted, exceeding the climatology by 4.
