The Cascais Chamber will try again to buy the Autódromo do Estoril and guarantee the return of Formula 1 in 2028revealed the municipality on Monday, following a meeting with the Government. In a statement that was cited by the Lusa agency, this Tuesday, October 7th, in the morning, the Cascais City Council states that it wants to buy the infrastructure from Parpública, the vehicle that aggregates the State’s shares in companies.
“In 2026 it will be 30 years since the last Grand Prix took place in Estoril. We will restart a new stage of this mythical world circuit, with the local authority managing this equipment.”said the vice-president of the Cascais Chamber, Nuno Piteira Lopes (PSD), in the note released by the municipality, which also clarified that the details of the potential purchase were discussed in a meeting between the Cascais Chamber and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and ServicesPedro Machado.
It should be remembered that 10 years ago the Cascais Chamber, currently chaired by Carlos Carreiras (PSD), tried to buy the Estoril Race Track from the State. The municipality moved towards the acquisitionputting five million euros on the table, but the Court of Auditors ended up rejecting the deal.
