The first investigations by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Campeche (FGECAM) indicate that It was hitmen with stolen motorcycles who shot the former Morena candidate for the municipal presidency of Palizada, and current councilor Karina Díaz Hernández.
After the shooting attack, the woman was taken to the General Hospital where she died.
The progress of the investigations and the investigation file indicate that the hitmen aboard stolen motorcycles attacked the councilor who was also a teaching supervisor.

It is suspected that the councilor could have sensitive information about the advance of crime in the Campechana region.
Karina Díaz Hernández was currently a councilor for the municipality of Palizada; According to preliminary reports, armed men intercepted his vehicle and shot him multiple times.
Given the armed attack, local authorities maintained an operation in the area to search for further incidents of the attack.
The governor of the State, Layda Sansores wrote on her X account:
“I am deeply sorry for Karina’s death.
Her life, her sensitivity and her commitment left their mark on those of us who knew her and shared with her the struggle and defense of her ideals.
The cowardice of this crime hurts and outrages us all.
We will honor his memory with truth and justice.
The investigations are already underway and are carried out with seriousness and rigor.
