Buildings protected by metal fences
The National Palace and other buildings in the first square of the Historic Center are protected with fences, in response to the announcement of mobilizations by the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) and Generation Z, scheduled for next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Since Tuesday, November 11, workers installed metal walls around the National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and businesses in the capital’s Zócalo.
Protections were also placed on buildings on 5 de Mayo Street and the Palace of Fine Arts.
The CNTE distances itself from the march of Generation Z
“We are an independent movement to the right-wing and far-right marches. We are neither in favor nor against, but we are not with them,” Hernández clarified to assert that these actions have no relationship with the march called for Saturday the 15th by groups outside the Coordinator.
“We want to distinguish very clearly from other expressions of mobilization. Our action has nothing to do with what happens on Saturday. We do not intend to join either for or against because ours responds to demands that have not had a solution,” he indicated.
CNTE actions will begin in the capital’s Zócalo
The National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) begins this Thursday, November 13, a 48-hour national strike with a concentration in Mexico City in demand of progress in its labor and social agenda, which, according to its leaders, continues without answers.
The first action is scheduled for 5:00 a.m. and will be a “fence fence” while President Claudia Sheinbaum holds her morning conference.
They will continue with a march to the Chamber of Deputies where they plan to set up a sit-in throughout the day and night of Thursday and all of Friday.
As part of the strike, In at least 30 states, there will be replicas with the liberation of booths, brief blockades, rallies and regional marches that will also remain active on Thursday and Friday.
The protests will focus on the repeal of the ISSSTE Law of 2017, as well as the total elimination of the educational reforms promoted by both Enrique Peña Nieto and Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
They will also demand the reinstatement of the national work table with the federal government and the reactivation of the state resolution tables suspended for months ago.
