Stephanie Romano, a versatile artist and educator, introduces her latest exhibition, ‘Reconciling With The Empty Space’ at New Jersey City University. This exhibition is an impressive collection of mixed media works that weave together materials such as fiber, screen printing, ceramics and sculpture. Through this multisensory installation, Stephanie invites viewers to engage in a deeply personal exploration of memory, love, loss and healing.

Stephanie Romano’s creative journey began with a passion for craftsmanship. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metal Design and her art teacher certification from NJCU in 2006. Her work explores material, form, and the stories objects can carry. In 2023, she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Jersey City Arts Council and recently participated in the Wonder Woman 13 Residency: Walk With Me.

When not working in her studio, Stephanie teaches sculpture and ceramics in Jersey City Public Schools, where she shares her passion for creativity with her students. She is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts and expanding her practice through community collaboration. Her exhibition is part of the JCFridays event on Friday December 5th from 4pm to 7pm, followed by an artist talk on Thursday December 11th at 5pm.

The exhibition ‘Reconciling With The Empty Space’ is not only an artistic presentation, but also an invitation to reflection and dialogue on the universal themes it addresses. Stephanie Romano’s ability to combine different media to portray complex emotions and memories makes her work both unique and accessible. This exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to engage with the empty spaces in their own lives and gain new perspectives on healing and memory.
