ZINAPÉCUARO, MICH.- A death toll of two alleged hitmen left a strong armed confrontation between elements of the Mexican Army and alleged members of organized crime, in the municipality of ZinapécuaroMichoacan.
The shooting occurred in a mountain area of the community of La Galera, where the military detected a narcocamp used for illicit activities, in which members of a criminal group were taking refuge, so, when trying to enter the place, they were met with bullets from high-powered weapons, which sparked a confrontation that lasted for several minutes.
The soldiers managed to secure the place and upon entering they found the lifeless bodies of two alleged criminals, while their accomplices escaped from the camp into the undergrowth.
Despite a search carried out by air and land, there were no arrests.
Three vehicles, two long weapons, around 1,600 useful cartridges of different calibers, 13 rifle magazines and 10 military-type uniforms were seized at the site.
The bodies of the two murdered men were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), where a legal autopsy will be performed. Likewise, their identity and which criminal group they belong to are being investigated.

Zinapécuaro has been a constant zone of conflict between criminal organizations dedicated to drug trafficking extortion and kidnapping.
