In the municipality of Tolucaa spectacular accident that occurred on Tuesday morning on the Morelos Avenue, in front of the Vicente Guerrero park, left 14 people injured.
According to the police report, a bus from the Xinantecátl linea taxi and a lighting pole were involved in the accident that paralyzed traffic for more than three hours. Eleven injured people were treated at the scene and three were taken to hospitals.
Neighbors denounced the excessive speed of the transporters and the lack of road control by the authorities.
The usual morning traffic, in Toluca, became a scene of panic and confusion after the strong collision between a bus on the Xinantecátl line and a taxi, at the intersection of the Morelos Avenue and Vicente Guerrero Park, right in front of Ciudad Universitaria. The impact was so severe that the truck lost control and ended up crashing into a lighting pole, which was left bent on the sidewalk.
The first minutes were chaotic: cries for help, engine smoke and scattered glass created a desolate panorama. The taxi was completely destroyed at the front, while the bus had visible damage to the windshield and side structure.
The passengers, some injured and others in a state of shock, were trying to get out of the wreckage of the vehicle.
Civil Protection elements of the State of Mexico, firefighters and municipal police quickly arrived at the scene to coordinate the rescue and provide medical care to those affected. According to official reports, 15 people were injured, of which 11 were treated on site and three were transferred to nearby hospitals due to serious injuries.
The rescue and debris removal efforts lasted more than two hours. Traffic collapsed throughout the downtown area, while traffic elements diverted circulation towards Pino Suárez and Venustiano Carranza.
