The governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, reported that one of Mayor Carlos Manzo Rodríguez’s bodyguards remains a fugitive. This occurred after the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) detained seven members of the security team of the municipal president of Uruapan, who was murdered on November 1.

In an interview with the media, he pointed out that the investigation is being carried out by the State Prosecutor’s Office, with specialized teams from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of the Government of Mexico. He stated that all lines of investigation are “unfolded” and are producing results to locate all those responsible for the murder of the municipal president of Uruapan, Michoacán.

“A comprehensive, extensive, 360-degree investigation is being carried out, in all senses where there is some line of investigation, it is unfolding and developing. This line has already been established by the prosecutor’s office, which includes its first security circle, eight bodyguards. There is a very close collaboration between Omar García Harfuch and Carlos Torres Piña, the prosecutor, and we are attentive, collaborating in everything we can,” he explained.

He explained that elements of the National Guard who also protected Carlos Manzo are being investigated. “although the inner circle, as has been constantly expressed, the municipal president himself was the one who determined that these bodyguards were his closest circle regarding the issue of his security, and the National Guard always made a second circle in his environment.”

He asked the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Michoacán and the Secretary of Security Omar García Harfuch to be attentive. “Whoever falls falls,” as he expressed. In addition, he assured that very relevant arrests have been registered in the case.

“The investigation is being carried out in a very broad, very professional manner and in collaboration with the state government, the federal government, the state prosecutor’s office and also the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection at the federal level,” he concluded.
