Informed sources said that the United States will hold a meeting on Monday for officials from the Group of Twenty major economies, as part of preparations for its rotating presidency of the group next year.
The sources explained that South Africa, this year’s host country, was not invited to participate in the meeting, in light of an escalating dispute between Washington and Pretoria.
The United States assumed the presidency of the group for a full year, and announced that it would not invite the largest African economy to attend its upcoming activities, while South Africa rejected US President Donald Trump’s accusations that the black majority government was oppressing the white minority.

There was no comment from the White House or the Treasury Department regarding the upcoming meeting, while Washington pledged to launch “necessary reforms” and return the group to its “core mission of promoting growth and prosperity.”
Miami is scheduled to host the G20 Leaders Summit next year at a golf resort owned by Trump, after Washington boycotted the previous summit hosted by Pretoria, accusing South Africa of politicizing its presidency of the group.
