Amazon's expansion in Mexico boosts the digital economy, strengthens logistics and opens opportunities for thousands of SMEs.


He Economic Impact Report 2025 threw that Amazon consolidates itself as one of the main actors in economic growth in Mexico, a decade after its arrival in the country, since it has invested more than 145 billion pesos since the launch of its website in 2015.

This figure reflects the weight of the digital economy as a source of investment, employment and innovation, since in 2024 alone, the firm’s operations contributed more than 29 billion pesos al National Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The multiplier effect of this investment translates into 52 thousand direct jobs over ten years and more than 37 thousand indirect jobs generated in 2024 in strategic sectors such as logistics, technology and electronic commerce.

Likewise, he reported that the logistics network of Amazon —with 14 shipping centers and 29 delivery stations— supports a distribution system that offers same-day deliveries in 14 cities and in less than 24 hours in more than 80, in addition to the new Amazon Now service, which delivers products in just 15 minutes in 10 cities.

In the technological field, the opening of the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) Region in Queretaro managed to make Mexico become a digital hub for Latin America, hosting local infrastructure that enhances the digital transformation of companies and public institutions.

Another key front of the company’s economic impact is its work with Mexican SMEs, since currently more than 27 thousand national sellers participate in its platform, of which the 99% are small and medium-sized companies offering more than 5 million products.

During 2024, these companies generated 52 thousand jobs and contributed 19,400 million pesos to the GDP.

Through the initiative Made in Mexicoin alliance with the Ministry of Economy, Amazon has promoted the digitalization of more than 80 thousand certified products, integrating SMEs into the global economy.
