Mexico City.- The arrival of Ernestina Godoy as interim prosecutor means assuming a FGR loaded with sensitive files that did not advance to trial during the management of Alejandro Gertz Manero. Between 2019 and 2025, the institution opened investigations with strong media and political impact for millionaire diversions, misuse of public resources and illicit operations, but none of these matters reached a ruling in oral proceedings, which leaves the new administration with stalled processes and pressing deadlines.
In the cases of fiscal huachicol, the Prosecutor’s Office requested arrest warrants against public servants and civilians linked to the illegal introduction of fuels. However, several investigations were affected by massive leaks of documents, as happened with the file of the Farías Laguna brothers, accused of facilitating the entry of fuel through maritime customs. The early dissemination of hundreds of pages complicated the process, while one of those involved remains a fugitive.
Something similar happened with the investigation against the businessman Raul Rocha Cantuwhere telephone interventions and the irregular actions of a prosecutor were also aired. After President Claudia Sheinbaum’s public call for information on the case, the FGR He only confirmed the existence of orders and the analysis of Rocha’s legal situation. Godoy will have to unblock these causes and contain new leaks.
The prosecutor’s office also brings complaints of corruption in Segalmex, Diconsa, Conade, Conacyt and other agencies, derived from federal audits. Although some former officials have been arrested, there are no concluded trials or recovery of resources, and figures such as Ignacio Ovalle remain without charges.
Another delicate file is that of Hernán Bermúdez Requenaalleged leader of La Barredora, whose federal process remains detained despite his capture. Gertz assured that an injunction “would be of no use to him,” but the case has not yet started. Added to this is the situation of former governor Javier Duarte, who was recently denied early release, although his sentence ends in April 2026, while dozens of files for millionaire diversions remain unresolved.
