The community of San Diego, in the municipality of Almoloya de Juárezwoke up wrapped in mourning after the murder of three members of the same family, while doing agricultural work.
The victims Telésforo, 68 years old; his son Miguel Ángel, 34; and his grandson Víctor, only 14 years old, were traveling on tractors along rural roads when an armed group opened fire on them, taking their lives in a matter of seconds.
The first reports indicate that neighbors alerted the emergency services after hearing several explosions. However, when paramedics and Civil Protection arrived at the scene, the three people no longer had vital signs. The attack, carried out in broad daylight, generated consternation among residents due to its brutality and the fact that a minor was among the victims.
Elements of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico cordoned off the area and began the corresponding proceedings.
Among the evidence recovered were shell casings and traces of movement of the aggressors. Researchers pointed out that one of the preliminary lines points to alleged family conflicts, although they do not rule out other hypotheses related to agrarian disputes or local problems not formally reported.
San Diego residents expressed fear and frustration over crime. “They were hard-working people, known by everyone. Don Telésforo was a respected man, we never imagined that his family would end up like this,” said Doña Petra, a resident of the area. “And killing a 14-year-old boy… that no longer has a name. How long are we going to live in fear?” he added through tears.
The bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service to perform the corresponding autopsies and advance in the full identification of the motives for the crime. The tractors where they were traveling were secured as evidence, while experts continued to collect evidence in the surrounding area.
