Video scenes showed Israeli occupation army soldiers executing two young Palestinian men in the field in the Jabal Abu Dhahir neighborhood in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, even though they were raising their hands in the air to surrender.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed, “The martyrdom of Al-Muntaser Billah Abdullah (26 years old) and Yousef Iasa (37 years old) by occupation bullets in Jenin.”
Commenting on the matter, Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said that the soldiers in Jenin behaved exactly as expected of them.
Ben Gvir expressed his absolute support for the soldiers, border guards and the army who opened fire on what he described as “wanted terrorists who emerged from a building in Jenin.”
For its part, the Israeli occupation army indicated in a statement that during an operation in the city, its forces surrounded a building containing “two wanted persons” and “took measures aimed at their surrender,” adding that they were opened fire on after they left the building.
After documenting the field execution on video, the army said that it was conducting a “field investigation into the circumstances of the incident.”
Footage broadcast by Israeli television stations showed Israeli forces shooting the two young men after they raised their hands to surrender, and Agence France-Presse filmed part of the incident.
This comes amid a major escalation taking place in the West Bank as the Israeli military operation continues, as the occupation forces raided hundreds of Palestinian homes in Tubas Governorate and restricted the movement of about 70,000 Palestinians.
