La cifra de muertos por lluvias en el país aumenta a 76; se censan 26 mil hogares

Mexico City, October 18 (However).- The number of muertos caused by the emergency in five states of the country due to the heavy rains Last weekend there were already 76, according to the latest report from federal authorities. The atypical rainfall provoked floods y landslides in 108 municipalities of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosi y Queretaro.

According to the data, four more people died compared to the figure reported yesterday, two of them in Veracruz, which already has 34 deaths; one more in Hidalgo, which accumulates 22 deaths; and Puebla adds another death, bringing this entity to 19 fatalities. Querétaro has one death and San Luis Potosí (SLP) has no deaths so far.

Regarding people reported missing, the number dropped from 29 to 20 in Hidalgo. The data remained the same in Veracruz, which reports 14. Puebla, for its part, has five registered disappearances. There are no reports in Querétaro or San Luis Potosí. In total, 39 people are missing.

Since Friday, the Federal Government installed the Emergency Committee of the National Civil Protection Council and the work is coordinated daily with the five governors and the Governor of Veracruz.

The Government reported 297 collection centers, as well as 22,436 people dedicated to responding to the emergency and 1,384 heavy machines used.

Likewise, 204 air bridges with 47 helicopters have been established to reach all the affected areas in Huasteca.

Regarding the restoration of electrical energy by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the authorities detailed that Hidalgo had 30 municipalities affected and progress of 95.63 percent has been achieved. Puebla had 15 municipalities affected and the progress is 97.53 percent. In Querétaro, six municipalities were affected and the service has already been restored to 100 percent, as in San Luis Potosí. Veracruz was affected in 60 municipalities, and 99.25 percent coverage has already been achieved.

Regarding the deployment of the Ministry of the Navy, Admiral Raymundo Morales Ángeles reported yesterday that 4,519 elements remain in four states, who receive support from eight planes, 20 helicopters, five ships and 19 boats.

For his part, the Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, reported that the Meixcano Army maintains a deployment of 8,389 troops as part of the DN-III-E Plan, as well as 21 helicopters that operate air bridges in Veracruz, Puebla and Hidalgo.

Finally, the director of the National Electricity Commission (CFE), Emilia Calleja, reported that there has been a 95.4 percent restoration of electrical energy in the affected states, and only in the last 24 hours the service has been restored to 7,330 users.
