The governor of CaliforniaGavin Newsom, reignited his confrontation with President Donald Trump by posting a video on social networks where he uses a song by Taylor Swift to make fun of him. The clip, which went viral in a few hours, includes images and publications of the president of USA accompanied by a theme that ironically alludes to an obsessive relationship.
Newsom uses a Taylor Swift song to mock Trump
Newsom shared a 26-second video on Instagram and TikTok accompanied by the song “Actually Romantic”by Taylor Swift, which belongs to her new album The Life of a Showgirl.
The letters that appear in the video say:
“But it’s really sweet, all the time you’ve spent on me. It’s honestly crazy, all the effort you’ve put in. It’s really romantic, I have to hand it to you. No man has ever loved me like you.”
The montage shows clips of meetings between both politicians and screenshots of publications where Trump calls him “Newscum”, an insult that the president has repeated in recent months.
The video ends with a message from Newsom’s press office that says: “DONALD IS FINISHED — HE IS NO LONGER ‘HOT’”along with images of a t-shirt with the phrase “TRUMP IS NOT HOT.”
Among the items shown also appears an old post by Trump where he wrote that Taylor Swift “is no longer HOT”which reinforces the mocking tone of the publication.
The White House response to the governor of California
Asked about the video, the White House spokesperson, Abigail Jacksonresponded by sending an image of a Newsom-like man with a big mustache, a hat and maracas.
Trump used his social network to repeatedly attack the governor, while Newsom responds with his all-caps writing style and provocative phrases. The dispute gained national relevance, since Newsom sounds like a possible Democratic candidate for the 2028 presidential elections.
