The districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco were under yellow warning, with the IPMA predicting snowfall with accumulation above 1600 meters, which could be 10 centimeters in Torre, at the top of Serra da Estrela. At the end of Tuesday afternoon, the snow began to fall heavily and the road connecting to the Tower was closed.

With this meteorological context and the festive season of Christmas and New Year approaching, Serra da Estrela gains greater attraction, as a winter destination, which combines snow, mountain villages, fireplace and many traditions. This announces the symbolic opening of the Serra da Estrela Ski Resort on Friday, December 12th.

Always subject to weather conditions and the existence of snow, in this new season access to the slopes, equipment and classes at the Ski Resort continues to be reserved exclusively online, through official page or the app. Of course, it is the maintenance of the prices charged: the pass for users with their own equipment costs €30, per adult, and €20 per child, up to 12 years old. The package that includes a pass and equipment rental is available for €60. Children pay €50. Prices include insurance.

The Ski Resort informs that all services require prior booking by email, between two weeks and up to 24 hours before use. Booking group classes also requires scheduling and the price (€55) does not include pass/access card, equipment, clothing or accessories.

Remember that the Serra da Estrela Ski Resort can operate up to 22 ski slopes, with four difficulty levels. It also has two teleskis, a treadmill and a chairlift, whose operation always depends on the amount of snow available.
