IECM begins key audit to maintain international certificate


The Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) began an external recertification audit of its Electoral Quality Management System, a process with which it seeks to maintain the international ISO Electoral title and endorse the efficiency of your procedures regarding the organization of elections and citizen participation.

With this exercise, the IECM remains the only subnational electoral body in the country to have a certified system under the ISO/TS 54001:2019 standardwhich establishes guidelines to plan, execute and evaluate electoral processes, consultations, citizen participation mechanisms and civic education actions.

The audit corresponds to the third certification cycle of the Electoral Quality Management System (SGCE) and will be carried out by the certifying body NEMT Register, endorsed by the International Electoral Accreditation Body and the Organization of American States (OAS).

The lead auditor, Enrique San Vicente, explained that the objective of the review is to verify compliance with the requirements established by the international standard, as well as the correct application of institutional processes.

The capital agency evaluated the work of 1,796 Copacos located in the 16 municipalities in order to analyze areas for improvement.

During the next few days, key areas such as strategic planning, quality management, human resources, information technologies, infrastructure and internal and external communication will be evaluated.

Processes related to acquisitions, links with external organizations, citizen participation mechanisms and the execution of activities in the field will also be reviewed. On this occasion, the audit will include the review of the district addresses 3, 11, 13 y 16.

In this regard, the head of the Administrative Secretariat of the IECM, César Alberto Hoyo, pointed out that working under a process approach and risk management It allows us to strengthen the operational capacity of the institute, identify areas for improvement, anticipate scenarios and ensure consistent results in its substantive activities.

For his part, the Executive Secretary, Bernardo Núñez Yedra, highlighted that the maintenance of the SGCE has contributed to the professionalization of staff, al strengthening a quality culture at all levels of the institute already continuous improvement of its institutional procedures.

The audit formally began this Tuesday and its results will determine whether the IECM maintains international certification.
