The stores are already full of Christmas decorations, lights are starting to be installed in the cities and some shopping centers are already fully in the Christmas atmosphere. Indeed, On Saturday, November 22nd, a show will mark the inauguration of the Christmas lights in Lisbon, when the famous giant Christmas tree in Praça do Comércio will also be lit.. Unlike Brazil, one of the main traditions of this festive season in Portugal and Europe as a whole are the Christmas markets.
Each market has its own particularities and programming, but it is unanimous that visitors find plenty of food and drinks, handicrafts for sale, Santa Claus (here called Santa Claus) and special activities for children. THE DN Brazil prepared a list with the dates of the main Christmas markets in Portugal.
Lisboa
Wonderland
Wonderland Lisboa is definitely the most famous in the city. Set up in the middle of Eduardo VII Park, in the city center, you can see the ferris wheelone of the main attractions of the event, along with the ice skating rink. Between the rows of the park there are dozens of food stalls, such as bread with chorizo, all types of sweets and always some Brazilian food. It’s also a good place to buy handmade Christmas gifts. For children, there are countless activities, with entertainment every day.

Rossio
The Rossio Christmas Market, in the heart of Lisbon, has been in operation since November 15th. It’s the perfect place to eat chestnuts, drink ginger and other hot drinks, as well as find several options for handcrafted gifts. One of the main attractions is the Christmas train that runs through the city streets. Children (and adults alike) love touring Lisbon on a train with Santa Claus. The program also features musical and artistic performances.

Cascais
Cascais Christmas Market
In Cascais there is another Christmas market with the charm of the beach. It takes its name from the city and is located in two locations: Jardim Visconde da Luz and Baía de Cascais, with more than 40 food, drink and craft stands. In the bay, the ferris wheel offers an incredible view of the sea, especially in the late afternoon. However, it is not yet confirmed whether this year’s edition will feature the attraction. The Cascais Christmas Market starts this weekend, November 22nd, and runs until January 4th, 2026.

Cascais Christmas Village
The Cascais Christmas Village is children’s favorite address at this time of year in Cascais. The program is extensive and the decoration is one of the highlights, transforming Parque Marechal Carmona into a fairy tale, with reindeer, elves, Roman soldiers, Magi and Santa Claus himself. The Christmas village has ice track and ramp, carousel and mini ferris wheelas well as lots of sweets and typical foods. Cascais Christmas Village opens its doors this Saturday, November 22nd, and ends on January 4th, 2026.

Óbidos
Óbidos Christmas Village
In Óbidos, about an hour’s drive from Lisbon, Christmas is one of the city’s greatest moments. Surrounded by a wall, the village transforms into an even more magical environment, with unique decoration that creates a fantasy atmosphere.. People from all over the country visit Vila de Natal, one of the most famous in Portugal, especially children, who love the carousel. For adults, the ice rink and ramp are among the favorite attractions.
The party is called the Great Christmas Factory, and it is no coincidence: there are many workshops to participate in, such as the Ice Workshop, the Sweets Workshop, the Elf Academy, the Toy Factory and the Tin Soldier Training Camp. There is also no shortage of typical and cozy flavors from this special season.

North Region
Parties in Porto
No Port, the large illuminated Christmas tree is on Avenida dos Aliados, and the lights will be switched on on the night of November 29th, at 6pm. The decorations are spread across 94 streets in the city, and fado singer Mariza, accompanied by the Orquestra Jovens do Porto, will perform the first show of the Christmas program.
The shows will always be on Saturdays, at 6pm, until December 20th. Among the artists are Capitão Fausto, accompanied by the Costa Cabral Music Academy Orchestra, as well as the band Vizinhos and Rita Rocha (with the participation of the artist Guga). On the 20th, the presentation will be of the municipal project “Desporto no Bairro”, with national and international athletes and young people from Porto’s neighborhoods.
Cordoaria Garden Market
The biggest Christmas market in Porto is Jardim da Cordoaria, with traditional Santa Claus house and a workshop space called Tenda de Cristal. Several food, drink and craft stalls are part of the program. The Christmas village begins welcoming the public on November 29th and remains open until December 30th.

Natal no WOW
The World of Wine (WOW), in Vila Nova de Gaia, will also have a special Christmas program. The lights on the decorations and the 13-meter-high tree will be turned on this Saturday, at 6:30 pm, with live music. Santa Claus arrives on December 7th. Activities continue until January 6th.
The WOW restaurants will have a special menu, in addition to the typical food stalls. Children can play in the Parisian Carousel and participate in children’s entertainment activities.

Braga
Braga é Natal has a wide program in the city, which starts on November 29th, with more than 160 events on the streets and public spaces. The program includes shows, theater, workshops, Christmas carols, circus and street entertainment. The Christmas market will be installed on Avenida Central and will operate from November 29th to December 24th, 2025.
