After the complaint filed by Universal Music contra Christian Nodal and her parents, Silvia Cristina Nodal Jiménez and Jesús Jaime González Terrazas, for alleged falsification of signatures, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that the criminal procedure remains open.
Although this Wednesday the singer assured that they had not been linked to a process and that there was no minimum evidence for the commission of a crime, the FGR He specified that the criminal action remains pending the resolution of the parallel civil trial, in which both parties may present the evidence they consider relevant.
In a statement, the agency explained that the label’s complaint indicated that Nodal and his parents had transferred their copyright in certain works, but they would have subsequently claimed ownership of them.
“The file that was prosecuted before the Judge refers to the above. And said Judge did not exonerate even Christian ‘N’ nor to his family; It simply determined that there is another trial, of a civil nature, and that it is necessary to wait for its result before criminal action proceeds or not.
“Because of the above, the procedure remains open, awaiting that result. And both Christian ‘N’ How complainants can contribute to the FGR the evidence they have in this regard,” he stated.
In the morning, Nodal He had assured that after more than 14 hours of hearing at the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the Reclusorio Oriente, none of the three were linked to the process.
“I have always believed in justice. Today we are here with my father and my mother on a very long day. It was worth it. We were not linked. A judge has already ruled that there is no link, there is not even a single piece of paper that shows that we have falsified any document,” said the Sonoran upon his departure, accompanied by his lawyer, Erik Rauda.
“Con Universal I have done incredible things hand in hand. “I want to ask you for respect, affection and also the consistency that if you want an artist of my caliber back, that you make a decent contract with a lot of respect.”
The legal conflict began in 2021, when the “Ya No Somos Ni Seremos” singer filed a civil lawsuit against the music label to recover the rights to at least 50 of his songs, after refusing to resume his contract.
In response, Universal Music He filed a countersuit, in which he accused the singer and his parents of the alleged falsification of 32 contracts, pointing out irregularities in the signatures of certain documents.
Originally, the hearing of Nodal It was set at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, but due to the workload of the control judge Diana Selene Medina Hernández, the procedure began six hours late. The singer and his lawyer had arrived at 1:58 p.m. in a white van and did not give statements.
