EUROPE.- In a joint action, the Spanish National Policethe United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and police forces of the Netherlands they managed disarticulate the alleged “office” of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Spanish territory. The operation culminated in the arrest of 20 people in different parts of the country.

According to the General Directorate of the National Police, among those arrested there are individuals linked to the camorra (the Neapolitan mafia). The group would be involved in the introduction to Spain of important cocaine and methamphetamine shipments coming from South America, hidden in heavy industrial machinery.

Named as Oyamel operationreported that they have seized 1,870 kilos of cocaine, 375 kilos of amphetamine, 275 thousand euros in cash, cryptocurrencies worth 15 thousand dollars. As well as three short firearms, 15 vehicles and 14 kilos of silver.

The agents of the Central Drug and Organized Crime Unit (UDYCO) found that the organization coordinated drug shipments from a farm located in the province of Ávila, with branches in Bilbao and Valencia.

On other farms in Talavera de la Reinain the also central province of Toledo, they received and sent the industrial machinery with the hidden narcotic to Italy, where they had links with the Neapolitan camorra.

Among the 20 detainees in Madrid, Ávila, Bilbao, Valencia and Toledo – 15 have already entered prison – is a Spanish businessman in charge of providing logistical support to this office of the Mexican cartel with several commercial companies and laundering drug money through them.

They also arrested two priority objectives of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and several members of the Italian camorra.

Reactivated structure and a shipment from Costa Rica

The investigation began this year, when the introduction of hidden cocaine into Spain in large-tonnage industrial machinery, taking advantage of the Spanish business network mentioned above, one of the main objectives at the service of the cartel.

Investigators consider that the organization reactivated its operational structure due to the arrival of a drug shipment, hiding a large industrial apparatus, incorporating new Mexican members expressly sent by the cartel.

The operational phase of the investigation was carried out in two phases: one aimed at the core operations arrestsand another against the key distribution points in the provinces of Valencia and the Basque Country.

At the time of exploitation, and in coordination with the authorities of the Netherlands, a shipment from Costa Rica was intercepted with narcotics hidden in the industrial machinery of a maritime container.

The operation has been directed by the Central Court of Instruction Number 2 of the National Court and by the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor’s Office.
