The platforms reacted to the promises of US President Donald Trump to provide great facilities for obtaining entry visas to attend the 2026 World Cup, in a move aimed at enhancing the success of the tournament, which the United States is co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico.
This came during a meeting in the Oval Office that brought Trump together with the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, to discuss the latest organizational preparations for the largest football event in the world, which is expected to generate huge profits for the American economy.
Trump expected that hosting the World Cup would achieve economic returns amounting to $30 billion, with the creation of approximately 200,000 new job opportunities, a momentum that prompted the US administration to pay special attention to the issue of public access and facilitating its procedures.
In this context, Trump revealed the establishment of “FIFA’s priority appointment system,” which will give match ticket holders priority in obtaining appointments for interviews at American embassies and consulates.
Trump explained, “This system will allow World Cup ticket holders facing long waiting times to choose to receive a priority interview, and I have instructed me to do everything in my power to make the 2026 World Cup an unprecedented success.”
However, possession of a match ticket does not mean automatic obtaining of a visa, but rather only ensures that the interview date is accelerated, advising fans to begin the application procedures as soon as possible to ensure their attendance, according to statements by the US Secretary of State.
For his part, the FIFA President confirmed that ticket sales are proceeding at a record rate, stressing at the same time that the top priority is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all fans coming from different parts of the world.
Trump’s speech was not without warnings of a political nature, as he hinted at the possibility of depriving some American cities run by Democrats from hosting matches, such as Seattle and Los Angeles, unless the security conditions there were improved, which some considered a threat to politicize the sporting event.
The “Shabakat” program (11/18/2025) monitored some of the public’s interactions on social media platforms with these developments, as some welcomed the announced facilities, while others expressed doubts and fears. Murhaf wrote optimistically:
I expect the World Cup in the United States to be the most beautiful version, with many facilities and more fun
On the other hand, Omar expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of these measures, pointing to the possibility of imposing strict security restrictions, so he tweeted:
I don’t think there will be freedom of movement with the tickets offered.. Surely, they are working on their own account. Maybe people will buy the ticket and try to stay in the United States.. There will be restrictions.
As for Wael, he had concerns that the tournament coincided with a sensitive political time, as he wrote:
The World Cup will come at the time of the midterm elections, and there will be fear of riots and vandalism. It is possible that the Democrats will take advantage of the situation and create problems to fail the Trump administration.
Aside from politics and organization, the hoarseness of President Trump’s voice during his speech caught the attention of many, including Farah, who expressed her concern about his health condition, saying:
Before, he had bruises that he tried to hide, and now his voice is hoarse.. These are all signs that his health condition is unstable. We should not forget that he is 79 years old.
These health questions raised by Farah became fodder for the press, which began searching for the reasons for the president’s sudden hoarseness, adding another dimension to the debate surrounding World Cup preparations.
