The so-called post punk Russian, although it is no longer the center of conversations regarding music fashion, is here to stay and Molchat Domawhich are rather Belarusiansare proof of this, as they prevail on the stages and in the taste of Mexicans.
In the past, the trio made up of Egor Shkutko, Roman Komogortsev y Pavel Kozlovreached an interesting peak due to his song Sudnowho starred in reels on social networks, which was interesting at the time, but after years of this, they believe that it happened through a non-verbal language, that of music.
“We believe that language is not a barrier when there is real emotion behind the music,” said the vocalist in an interview with 24 HORAS, on his last visit to Mexico.
“People feel the energy, the mood, and that is more important than the literal meaning. All over the world we see audiences interpret our songs in their own way, and that is beautiful,” said Egor, who often writes about negative and dark feelings, but which people exorcise through dance and imprecise interpretations of Belarusian.

Molchat Doma reveals that the affection is mutual for his Mexican fans
Before beginning his third visit to the Mexico Citythe band revealed that the feeling of affection is mutual for their national fans.
“Each country is unique, of course, but the Mexican public has a very special place in our hearts,” said Kozlov, who is mainly in charge of bass. “Coming has been one of the most intense and emotional experiences for us. The energy, the passion, the way the audience connects with the music is something really special,” said the musician.
On the other hand, from the release of their first album titled Molchat Doma, to the most recent Belaya Polosathe band has changed its sound, but has maintained an aura of nostalgia in the music, which is recognized by fans and which has come naturally to the band.
“We never try to sound ‘like the 80s’ or ‘like the future’. We simply use the instruments and aesthetics that speak to us, combining them intuitively. Maybe that’s why the result feels so timeless,” declared the vocalist.
Something stands out too much about the Belarusians: their intensity when performing songs live and although it is not that they are a different band in their studio sound, it is that their performances depend on how time and space feel. “We don’t play songs, we interpret how that moment is lived.
‘It’s a personal story told live’
“It is a personal story told live. Sometimes we return to the same emotional state we were in when recording, and we transmit that feeling to the audience without saying a word. It is a way in which we find enjoyment in what we do,” said Egor.
But off stage, the trio has a special relationship with the national territory.
“We really like coming to visit places, to eat, have a beer, pulque, mezcal, tequila, the food. It is a place with many things to know, with many colors in the skies.
“Of course we never thought that making this music would even take us outside our country and much less did we think about getting to know lands so far away and different from ours,” said Pavel, who also said that they would spend a few days in the interior of the Republic before continuing with their tour.
Already on stage as one of the main acts of the first night of the last edition of the festival Hipnosisthe atmosphere transformed from the trio’s synthesizers, basses and guitars to the audience; first with the newest topics like Belaya Polosabut also full of its classic album Etasiof which they sounded Tosca y Sudnoamong others.
