GUANAJUATO (El Universal).— Yesterday Monday afternoon Criminal groups blocked the Pénjamo-La Piedad highway con two trailers burned on the borders of Guanajuato with the state of Michoacán.
Armed men forced the drivers to get out of the units in the Rancho de Peña curve and in the community Laguna Larga de Cortés, in the municipality of Pénjamo.
At the second point, state police and elements of the Army followed the alleged criminals, who managed to escape while firing shots.
During the chase, a confrontation took place shootings between security elements and civilians that would have burned a tractor-trailer at the point La Maraña Bridge.
On her social networks, the municipal president of Pénjamo, Yozajambi Molinaconfirmed the burning of the cargo units, and the operation of firefighters to put out the fire.
“I want to inform you that Public Security personnel and the Pénjamo and Santa Ana Pacueco Fire Department are attending to two fires that occurred this afternoon on the Pénjamo–La Piedad federal highway.”
The first incident occurred near the Rancho de Peña community and the second near the Laguna Larga de Cortés town.

“Our teams are already at both points working to control the situation. We are acting in coordination with state and federal authorities, prioritizing the safety of citizens at all times.”
The blockades reportedly spread from Michoacán to Guanajuato, apparently derived from the arrest of a criminal leader in the neighboring entity.
The acts of violence occurred despite the reinforcement of surveillance on the borders of both states, derived from the implementation of the Michoacan Plan of the federal government following the murder of Carlos Manzo.
The incidents occur hours after new movements within the Michoacán Public Security Secretariat.
