The return of Samus Aran in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is highly anticipated by fans worldwide. Nintendo recently released an extended trailer that not only highlights the game’s plot, but also introduces new abilities for Samus and her allies on the planet Viewros. These revelations offer a first look at the challenges facing the iconic bounty hunter.
The trailer shows Samus responding to a distress call from a Galactic Federation research center under attack by her rival Sylux. During the battle, Samus is transported to the unknown and hostile planet Viewros, where she is stranded without her spaceship. Some Galactic Federation troops have also made it to the planet, suggesting possible alliances.
Samus’ familiar abilities return in Metroid Prime 4, complemented by new psychic powers. These allow her to direct her shots precisely or operate abandoned machines on Viewros. GameSpot recently had the opportunity to test these new capabilities in a hands-on demo. The planet’s various biomes, including abandoned factories and an open desert, provide a varied backdrop for Samus’ adventures.
The game will be available on both the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2. The latter offers mouse control with the Joy-Con 2, which enables Samus to control her aim even more precisely. Players can seamlessly switch between standard and mouse controls, promising a dynamic gaming experience.
