As if harassment in any of its forms were not already a problem for women, in recent years a new form has been detected that violates the pregnant women, nursing mothers and their little ones. These are the so-called “white vampires”, men who claim to have lactophilia or a taste for breast milk.
According to various online media, this type of digital harassment has grown in recent years, with social networks being more recurrent in groups where images about breastfeeding are shared.
The subjects, they indicate, often contact vulnerable women to talk about their breastfeeding and, after gaining their trust, harass them with questions of a sexual nature that can include indecorous proposals, which often appeal to the mothers’ economic need.
The lactofilia is defined as the sexual excitement around the nursing breast and, in some cases, includes the desire to drink breast milk.
It has been identified that some men tend to steal images that nursing mothers share in social media groups about breastfeeding, in order to later sell them for sexual purposes. Furthermore, harassment does not remain in the digital sphere, as it is reported that more and more subjects tend to take images of breastfeeding women, without their consent.
They seek to legislate the harassment of “white vampires”
Although it is a trend that grows every day in Mexico, so far the only state that has sought to sanction this behavior is Guanajuato.
According to RT en Español, the local deputy of the National Action Party (PAN), Víctor Zanella Huerta, presented an initiative that seeks criminally sanction these harassment practices.
“The so-called white vampires […] They join mothers’ groups – social networks – and many of these mentally ill people occupy the chats to seek to obtain breast milk,” explained the legislator, in statements collected by Milenio.
However, it is still being debated what the ideal legal figure will be so that sanctions for this type of harassment can be legislated.
We are very happy that every day we are one step closer to protecting early childhood and nursing mothers.
Gracias @VictorZanella for being an ally and taking it to congress.
As a team we are sure that it will come true. pic.twitter.com/NWMAtCq4rh
