High-dose flu vaccines, which are intended for elderly people aged 85 and over, are out of stock. Local health units (ULS) have been waiting for a month to replenish stock.

The information is being released this Saturday, November 15th, by RTP, based on an alert that came from the ULS in Greater Porto. But the situation extends to other areas of the country.

Almost 75% of people aged 85 and over have already been vaccinated with four times greater protection, but there are still 25% to go.

The General Directorate of Health purchased almost 358 thousand doses, eight thousand more than last year. The purchase took into account the estimated needs of the 39 ULS.

The General Directorate of Health admits concern, but considers that there are still vaccines and calls on the ULS that still have them to give them to those that have already exhausted their stock.

However, he told the ULS to make direct purchases if authorized by the Executive Directorate of the SNS. The units consider that they have been left to their own devices.

The normal flu vaccine could be the alternative.
