This Sunday, November 9, the President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice. Since last Tuesday, November 4, during “The Morning“, the President said that said strategy would be carried out jointly by the members of the Security Cabinet, including Omar García Harfuchholder of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC)and for the communities of Michoacán. The plan arises as a corrective measure after the murder of Carlos Manzomayor of Uruapan, on November 1.
During this presentation, which was held from the National Palace, the governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedollaaccompanied the President’s legal and expanded cabinet.
Omar García Harfuch, presented the security strategies that will be implemented in the state of Michoacán. During his speech, the head offered his condolences to the relatives of the then independent mayor of Uruapan, murdered during the Candle Festival, and said that “there will be no impunity. Those who generate violence, those who commit crimes, those who harm Michoacan families and the people of Mexico, will be investigated, detained and brought before the law..”

Harfuch shared that, as part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, the four axes of the National Security Strategy in the entity will be reinforced, which include:
- Attention to the causes.
- Consolidation of the National Guard (GN). At this point, work will be done to strengthen the Michoacán State Police, with equipment, training and joint actions of direct operation, under the supervision of the Government of Mexico.
- Strengthening Intelligence and Research. To comply with this axis, technological resources and specialized units will be deployed to combat extortion and stop the generators of violence. Likewise, the entity’s High Impact Specialized Prosecutor’s Office will be reinforced, through the exchange of information with the Security Cabinet and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
- Coordination. The head declared that, “on instructions from the President, we will continue to act with firmness, justice and in close coordination between the three levels of government”, due to which the state of force of the Defense, GN, Secretary of the Navy (Semar) and SSPC will be increased, in permanent coordination with state and municipal authorities.
Harfuch assured that a firm commitment is maintained with the security of Michoacán and with the right of its people to live in peace. The owner emphasized that the security of the entity in western Mexico is a national priority that requires the joint commitment of all levels of government, therefore, in the coming days, The Security Cabinet will visit different municipalities of said state.
The head of the SSPC, finally, promised to visit the new municipal president of Uruapan, Greece Quirozwidow of Carlos Manzo, to meet with local authorities and different sectors, evaluate and supervise the National Security Strategy. These meetings, he said, will allow their concerns to be directly addressed, preventive measures to be coordinated and the presence of the authorities to be reinforced.
