Alan Niven, former manager of Guns N’ Roses, announced that he will sue the band, accusing them of preventing him from publishing his autobiography, “Sound N’ Fury: Rock N’ Roll Stories”.
Quoted by “Consequence of Sound”, Niven’s lawyers allege that Guns N’ Roses threatened their former agent if he published the book in question, copies of which are currently locked in a warehouse.
According to Niven, Guns N’ Roses invoked a non-confidentiality clause signed by their former agent in 1991; however, Niven also insists that at least one of the group members encouraged him to write the book.
This non-confidentiality clause, for Niven’s lawyers, cannot be applied here, as it does not have the signature of all the elements involved. “Its publication has been postponed for months, despite having received a favorable review in [jornal] ‘Los Angeles Times’ and that several pre-orders have been placed”, the process reads.
Alan Niven was an agent for Guns N’ Roses between 1985 and 1991, the group’s golden period. Throughout his career, he has also worked with artists such as the Sex Pistols, Great White and Nikki Sixx. “Sound N’ Fury: Rock N’ Roll Stories” is still available for pre-order on Amazon, with a release date set for March 31, 2026.
In April of this year, Niven harshly criticized Axl Rose, accusing him of “wanting to control everything at all times”. “He has a problem with control. That he keeps 50% of the revenue is, for me, something execrable”, he said.
