Witnesses told the news agency France-Presse (AFP) heard this Friday explosions near Khartoumthe army-controlled capital of Sudan, a day after paramilitaries announced an agreement for a humanitarian truce.
Residents of the nearby town of Omdurman said the explosions occurred near a military base and a power plantcausing power cuts.
Other witnesses in Atbara, 300 kilometers further north, reported seeing unmanned aerial devices, known as ‘drones’ – targeted by air defense systems.
After capturing the city of Al-Fashir, in western Sudan, on October 26, the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) appear to be directing the offensive towards the Kordofan region (center) and Khartoum.
To date, no fatalities or injuries and neither the army nor RSF Forces have commented on the attacks.
More than 40 thousand people have been killed since the beginning of the civil war in Sudanaccording to the UN. The fighting has forced more than 14 million people from their homes and fueled disease outbreaks.
