PROGRESS.— The elevated viaduct will open today at three in the afternoon to trailer traffic as a test, in order to measure the entry and exit times of cargo trucks, with one and double trailers, as well as tank trucks with fuel and gondolas with grain, confirmed Augusto Romero García, secretary of the Union of Port Cargo Transporters, and customs agents Bernardo Mier and Terán Gutiérrez and Jorge Baqueiro Baqueiro.
As reported by the Diario, next Monday the 10th in the morning the official opening of the elevated viaduct will take place, in which the assistance of federal and state authorities is expected.
This agreement was reached last Tuesday the 4th in the session of the Operations Committee of the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) of Progreso, which was attended by representatives of the Union of Transporters chaired by Ernesto Luna Rivas, reported Romero García, who was present at that meeting at the Asipona offices.
The test on the elevated viaduct will be from 3 to 6 in the afternoon without paying a fee, detailed Romero García, according to a notification from Asipona the day before yesterday, Tuesday afternoon, to customs agents and cargo transport consortia.
Only trailers that are on the list of the APM Terminals container terminal and on the list of Comprehensive Safe Ports (PIS) of Asipona will be able to transit on this bypass, so that trailers that transport containers, gondolas and tank trucks will transit.
The other cargo trucks that are not listed will continue to travel on streets 46, 25 and 86 as alternative routes of entry to the remote terminal and exit from the city, Romero García said.
Mandatory circulation
After the inauguration, it will be mandatory for heavy units to circulate on the bridge.
During this month and next December circulation would be free. Fees will be charged later, but rates have not yet been defined.
For now, negotiations continue between the port authorities, the concessionaire Operaciones Autovía Libramiento Progreso SA de CV, importers and exporters, as well as transporters to reach an agreement on rates and alternative routes.
Pablo Castro, undersecretary of government, confirmed that next Monday the 10th will be the official opening of the elevated viaduct. He indicated that on behalf of the state government he holds meetings with the authorities and residents of the streets where the trailers travel.
Likewise, he mentioned that the work involves the three levels of government, federal, state, and municipal, as well as the users and inhabitants of the port. Due to its importance, a talks table was established to put it into operation. All that remains is to determine other details.— MEGAMEDIA
