“We are declaring a limited youth curfew in Washington, DC,” said the Mayor through her social networks.

The US official specified that the measure applies to all minors from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, and will continue until Wednesday, November 5.

“Effective immediately, all minors under the age of 18 are subject to a curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., which will be extended until November 5. This is in response to several weeks of disorderly youth behavior that endangered themselves and others,” he said.

This curfew declaration was issued after several fights between young people were reported at the Navy Yard on Halloween night.

The measure will allow the Petropolitan Police to designate certain areas of Washington DC as “high risk of disorder”, including: Navy Yard, the Banneker Recreation Center – near Howard University –, the U Street corridor and the area of Union Stationamong others.
