Liverpool achieved its sixth victory after 4 consecutive defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford, raising its score to 18 points and rising to third place in the table, lagging behind Bournemouth, second in the standings, on goal difference, who will face Manchester City on Sunday.
This victory raises the morale of the English team before two heavy-caliber confrontations when hosting Real Madrid next Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League, then heading out to face Manchester City next Sunday in the 11th round of the Premier League.
As for Aston Villa, it is preparing for two matches at home within a week against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League and then Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
Liverpool was the most dangerous in the first half, and threatened its opponent’s goal with more than 8 attempts by Salah, Dominic Soboslai, Cody Gakpo, and Ibrahima Konate, but Argentine Emiliano Martinez was very alert.
On the other hand, the visitors reached Liverpool’s goal 3 times, but goalkeeper Georgi Mamardashvili blocked shots from Matty Cash and Morgan Rogers.
Liverpool translated its advantage into a goal scored by French striker Hugo Equitiki in the 43rd minute, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology intervened and canceled the goal due to offside.

Argentine Emiliano Martinez, the Villans’ goalkeeper, made a grave mistake when he accidentally passed the ball to Salah and the Egyptian star scored the first goal in the first minute of stoppage time.
Salah raised his tally to 5 goals in 14 matches in all competitions since the beginning of the current season, with 4 goals in the league and a goal in the Champions League. He also celebrated an exceptional moment by reaching his 250th goal with Liverpool (he ranks third on the team’s all-time top scorers list) in all competitions since joining from Roma in the summer of 2017.
Mohamed Salah also equaled the record of former English star Wayne Rooney with Manchester United (276 contributions) as the player who contributed most goals in the English Premier League with one club (188 goals and 88 assists with Liverpool).
In the second half, Liverpool continued its offensive activity, and strengthened its lead with a second goal scored by Ryan Grafenberg from a shot that changed direction before entering the goal in the 58th minute, while Salah and Connor Bradley missed other attempts.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot made only one substitution, including German Florian Wirtz in place of Ikitiki, while Aston Villa pressed with all their might in an attempt to close the gap and equalize, but did not succeed.
