Mexico City. – Commemorate the day of the dead with the traditional offeringthis 2025 has a cost up to 19 percent higher compared to 2024, due to the increase in the price of several products, mainly bread of the dead and candy skulls, mainly in franchises, while in flea markets, markets and pilgrimages, there are cheaper options.

According to a study by the National Alliance of Small Merchants (ANPEC) The average cost of an offering this year is around 2,135 pesos, which is equivalent to an expense 19 percent higher than in 2024. The report on the price of products used in a Day of the Dead offering also adds that bread of the dead, being a seasonal product, its price had an increase of 21 percent.

According to family bakeries, a small piece of bread of the dead costs 15 pesos, while in self-service stores the sale is for a package of 95 pesos. While the large piece in a bakery is from 120 pesos and in large franchises up to 240 pesos.

In general, candy skulls are between 30 and 35 pesos, but in 2024 this product was around 25 pesos, which is why it is positioned as one of the traditional elements that had the greatest increase in price. The chopped paper was offered from 10 pesos for five pieces and in pilgrimages from 3 pesos.

Cempasúchil flowers, as another seasonal element, have a price that ranges between 70 pesos per bouquet and 60 pesos in large pots, however, local producers in pilgrimages offer flowers in pots from 30 pesos. The small orange pumpkins that are used to decorate, maintained their price at 60 pesos, while typical fruit such as tangerines, in flea markets were found at 20 pesos per kilo, when the previous year it was 15 pesos.
