Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, former prince of England and former Duke of York, could receive a single sum in the order of six figures and an annual amount allocated by his brother, King Charles III, to pay for his commoner life, according to The Guardian newspaper, based on sources close to British royalty.
With the withdrawal of André’s titles and honors and the obligation to abandon the Royal Lodge property, where he had resided until now, an agreement is being negotiated for his installation in Sandringham, Norfolk, the king’s private country home.
According to The Guardian, the agreement includes a six-figure sum and an annuity, to be paid with King Carlos’ private resources, which could be several times higher than the annual pension of 20 thousand pounds (around 22,700 euros) that André receives from the Navysay the same sources.
A statement from Buckingham Palace released on Thursday revealed that the king had begun the formal process to remove “Prince Andrew’s titles and honors” and that “formal notice to terminate the lease” of Royal Lodge had already been served.
“Their Majesties wish to make it clear that their thoughts and deepest sympathies have been and will continue to be with the victims and survivors of all forms of abuse”the statement also said.
Keir Starmer, English Prime Minister, expressed his full support for the king’s decision. “Our hearts go out to Virginia Giuffre’s family and all the victims who suffered as a result of Jeffrey Epstein’s despicable crimes,” a Downing Street spokesperson said.
Remember that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been under pressure for years due to his behavior and connections with Jeffrey Epstein, a tycoon who died in prison in 2019, accused of trafficking dozens of young girls, exploiting and sexually abusing them.
The recent publication of the memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who committed suicide in April, aged 41, revived the scandal. The author recalls that she suffered sexual abuse three times by the now ex-Prince Andrew.
