The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, today denounced a Russian night attack with 36 missiles and around 600 drones against Ukrainian territory, which left three dead and dozens injured in Kiev and surrounding areas.

In a message on Telegram, Zelensky lamented the deaths of three people and dozens of injuries, according to the latest information, following the launch of “36 missiles and almost 600 drones”.

“The main targets were energy infrastructure and civilian properties”, explained the Ukrainian head of state.

In his message, Zelensky also said that, in Kiev and surrounding areas, emergency services are working at the sites of the Russian attack, emphasizing that his country needs to work “without wasting a single day so that there are enough missiles for the air defense systems”.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian President took the opportunity to ask his European partners to make a decision on Russian assets frozen in Europe if Moscow does not cease its drone and missile attacks.

“And we have to talk to all partners about the steps to take to end this war”, he concluded.

The Russian attacks with missiles and drones in Ukraine occur at a time when attempts are being made to negotiate an end to the conflict, with the visit, next week, to Moscow by Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, while at the same time Dran Driscoll, also envoy by Trump, is expected in Kiev.

The attacks, which began on Friday night and continued into Saturday morning, left more than 600,000 people without electricity, the Ukrainian Energy Ministry announced.

“Following the attack, more than 500 thousand users in Kiev, more than 100 thousand in the Kiev region and around 8 thousand in the Kharkiv region were left without electricity this morning,” said the Ministry.

Ukrainian negotiators on their way to the United States

Meanwhile, Zelensky confirmed that a team of Ukrainian negotiators left for the United States today to discuss the American plan to end the conflict in Ukraine.

“The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, is already on his way to the United States with his team,” he wrote in a message published on the social network X.

The Ukrainian head of state also added that the “task is clear” and involves defining “quickly and substantially the steps necessary to put an end to the war”.

He also added that Ukraine continues to work with the United States “in the most constructive way possible”, hoping that the results of the meetings in Geneva will now be consolidated in the United States.

“I look forward to the report of our delegation after its work this Sunday. Ukraine is working for a dignified peace”, highlighted Zelensky.

A Washington proposal released last week, which included Moscow’s main demands, was initially welcomed by the Kremlin, but underwent changes following negotiations between North Americans, Ukrainians and Europeans.

On November 23, a meeting between Ukrainian, North American and European authorities took place in Geneva, where the parties discussed a proposed peace plan presented by Washington with the aim of putting an end to the war in Ukraine.

Following negotiations in Geneva, Ukraine and the United States agreed to continue working on joint proposals for a peace agreement.
