Installed since 2025 in Porto, the Altis Porto Hotel was considered the “Best new hotel” while in Vila Nova de Gaia The Rebello took home the distinction of “Best urban hotel”. Still in the Porto district, the Largo do Paço restaurant, at Casa da Calçada, in Amarante, recently reopened, is distinguished as the “Best restaurant”. Located on the island of Madeira, Quinta da Casa Branca won the award in the “Best immersive experience” category, while the Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & Spa, in Cascais, received the “Best for meetings and events” award.
Two projects in Alentejo, Sobreiras Alentejo Country Hotel and Gandum Village – Conscious Boutique Hotel took home, respectively, the awards for “Best pet friendly accommodation” and “Best in environmental practices & sustainability”.

The awards were announced during a gala dinner held at the Kimpton Fitzroy hotel in the British capital, where, at the same time, the launch of the new “Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotels Guide 2026” took place.
In addition to the awards for Europe and the Mediterranean area, awards for the best luxury hotels and spas in the United Kingdom were also announced; North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean; Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Condé Nast revealed in a statement.
The winners of the 2026 Annual Excellence Awards were selected by combining online voting, guest comments and evaluations carried out by the Local Experts team during the last year, says the same note.

Among those awarded for the European and Mediterranean area are also the Bahía Del Duque, in Tenerife, Spain, and the Tivoli La Caleta Tenerife Resort in the “People’s Choice” and “Best Recently Renovated Hotel” categories, respectively; the Al Molo Cinque, in Lake Como, Italy, as “Best for romance”, the Bayou Villas, in Antalya, Turkey which has the “Best service” and the Peterc Vineyard Estate, located in Brda, Slovenia, distinguished by the “Best breakfast”.
