Billed as “the biggest gastronomy event in the Central Region”, the Coimbra Região Gastronomica 2025 festival takes place between the 14th and 16th of November. Convento São Francisco, in the city center, is the stage for this second edition, which “promises to revolutionize the gastronomic panorama of the Coimbra region”. There will be three days full of tasting sessions, live cooking, pairings, talks, workshops and immersive experiences and special dinners.
With free entry, the festival presents a continuous program from Friday to Sunday, highlighting, among the many new features, the “Ao Balcão” initiative, where a chef and a sommelier will serve only 10 people. There is also a reinforced agenda of showcookings, workshops, masterclasses and entertainment throughout the weekend.
In the festival space there is also a Restauração Square, which has the presence of eight restaurants from the Coimbra region, which showcase the “authenticity and diversity of local cuisine”, and eight wine producers.

The 2025 edition features two stages, and two food courts. Among the other new features, the Bebidas Stage, the Live Kitchen and harmonization and mixology dynamics stand out, adding proposals dedicated to families, the general public, and professionals in the sector.
On the first day, Friday, in the live kitchen, creations such as “Chocolate” by Bruno Santos, “Coron and codfish in the oven” by Inês Beja, “Carolino and its versatility” by Tony Martins and “Cod rice with seaweed” by Duarte Eira will be paraded.
In parallel, there are tastings at Casa de Saima and Quinta da Ramalhosa. On this day there is still masterclasses such as “Sicó Wines: a heritage to discover” and “Olive Oil (Passeite): Liquid gold”. The Conventual Room hosts the themed dinner “Memories – 5 moments, 5 chefs”, with Duarte Eira, Gonçalo Melo, Jorge Fernandes, Inês Beja, Tony Martins and Tony Granadeiro.

On Saturday, November 15th, the Coimbra Região Gastronomica 2025 festival opens with Mini Chefs ADOC and continues with talks with Paulo Amado and Nuno Diniz, Virgílio Gomes and João Gomes about gastronomic heritage and showcookingssuch as Óscar Gomes’ “Short rib by Grupo C’s”, Sérgio Gama will do “Paella do Mondego” and also Luís Almeida. In particular, the masterclasses Delta Cafés, PRAXIS – Innovative Products, “Perfect Cut” meats, from Grupo C’s and wine presentations. At the counter there is an exclusive “flavors of the sea” service.

Sunday is family and producer day in the Coimbra Gastronomic Region. There is showcookings by Jorge Bolito on “Coelho de escabeche”, Bernardo Calvo making “Perch with textures of cauliflower and pike tongue à Bulhão Pato”, proposals with mushrooms from Lousã and cheese from Rabaçal, by Rita Magro, and Jaime Casimiro with “Presa, Cuscos and Halophytes from the ria”.
At the counter there is “Sushi and sparkling wine” by Marco Órfão, as well as masterclasses such as “Fish: from head to tail” with Ricardo Casqueiro and “The concept of healthy mixology”.
To close the festival, the Producers’ Dinner is scheduled, with coordination and execution of chefssommeliers and students from the Coimbra Hotel and Tourism School.
