ODolphins have several sides. Most of the Portuguese public already knows about ginjeira. The playful side, expressed in his reaction to the penultimate place obtained at the 1985 Song Festival, with the theme ‘A Casa da Praia’ (“the consecration of the Delfins at the level of modern Portuguese music”, Miguel Ângelo dixit); the protesting side, clearly evident in songs such as ‘Bandeira’, in which they rebelled against compulsory military service; the triumphal side, especially in the 90s, the decade in which they achieved their greatest successes in terms of record sales (see ‘Sou Como Um Rio’ or ‘Saber Amar’); the exploratory, progressive side, present in albums like “Ser Maior — Uma História Natural” or in projects like “Breve Sumário da História de Deus”; and even the jocular side, when overexposure led to an endless series of jokes, bad language or unseemly assessments.
