Long before making herself known to the world with “Malamente”, and enchanting her fans with “Lux”, Rosalía tried her luck in a television competition for aspiring stars, when I was just 15.
The contest, titled “You Are Worth It” and broadcast on the Telecinco channel, it featured the Catalan artist in 2008. “I feel like I have something special; I’m sure I’m going to be an artist”he stated at the time.
Even though she brought some tears to the audience with her interpretation of ‘Como En Un Mar Eterno’, a song by Madrid singer Hanna, Rosalía received a simple and resounding “no” from the competition jury. “You have a very beautiful voice, but you shouldn’t have sung this song tonight”said one of the jurors, Noemí Galera. Ángel Llácer, another member of the jury, admitted to seeing “a lot of potential” in the Catalan, but also rejected her.
Rosalía would end up being eliminated from the competition after performing ‘Leave’, by the American JoJo, in the semi-final; was surpassed by singer José Antonio.
