En June of this year, Springsteen spoke to a journalist from “Rolling Stone”, who, in the end, asked him: “What’s new about ‘Electric Nebraska’?” Without blinking, Bruce replied, “I have no memory of it ever existing. And I can assure you that there is nothing in our archive that appears to match it.” The issue seemed to have been resolved until, after the interview was published, the journalist received a message with a New Jersey number. The text read: “Here, Bruce Springsteen… I investigated our archive and it turns out there is an ‘Electric Nebraska’, although it doesn’t have all the songs!” Later, he would confess to “Mojo” magazine: “I didn’t know those tapes existed. I was surprised when I found out that ‘Electric Nebraska’ was real and that we had gone so far. But we went back and found the tapes. It was a shock and a surprise for me. And I think for the fans too.”
