Registration for the fifth edition of the CTT e-Commerce Awards has now closed. According to a source from the organization, “the record number of applications” was reached, which was above the 250 received in the last edition. Winners will be announced on November 27th, in Lisbon.
Participation continues to be dominated by Portuguese projects, which represent 65% of applications, while Spain accounts for the remaining 35%. A distribution that, for the organization, “gives the Iberian dimension” that the awards seek to consolidate.
In this edition, there are eight categories in the competition: e-Commerce Website/App, SME e-Commerce Initiative, Public Administration e-Commerce Initiative, Local Commerce Initiative, Green e-Commerce Initiative, Digital Marketing, Logistics and Returns and Financial Services and Security.
The most popular in terms of number of registrations were the Website/App e-commercewith 30%, and the SME and Local Commerce group, also with 30%. Innovation initiatives follow – which combine marketing, logistics, payments and security – with 25%, while sustainability represented 10% of participation and Public Administration, 5%.
“It has been an honor to see the evolution of the awards in terms of quality and number”, says Vanda de Jesus. The co-CEO of Doutor Finances and member of the jury says that “applications have been increasing” with each edition, and considers that opening the competition to the Iberian market “was very interesting”.
The judge highlights above all the dynamism and capacity for innovation of the sector and recalls that, in previous editions, “the pitches have demonstrated the quality of Portuguese and Spanish talent that dominates the digital and e-commerceThe disruption is not only seen in business models, but also “in the multichannel experience and digital platforms from Portugal to the world.” “This shows that we are only small when we want to be”, he says.
Of the more than 250 candidates, only 24 will be selected as finalists, who will present their projects on November 27th at Pátio da Galé, in Lisbon, during the “CTT e-Commerce Day“which this year also celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The panel of judges includes, in addition to Vanda de Jesus, Alexandre Teixeira dos Santos (Startup Portugal), Bruno Mateus Padinha (Impresa), Carolina Afonso (Jerónimo Martins), Diogo Teixeira (Beta I Portugal), João Ribeiro Costa (UCP), José Carlos Cortizo Pérez (Product Hackers), Pedro Norton de Matos (Academia G), Samuel Rodriguez (Ecommerce News Group) and Teresa Fiúza (Banco Português de Fomento).
