The Government of Denmark has announced an initiative to establish a minimum age limit of 15 years for users of the social networkswith the aim of protecting children from potential abuse.
“Mobile phones and social networks “They are stealing our children’s childhood.”the prime minister explained, Mette Frederiksen, this Tuesday in a speech before Parliament in which he did not clarify the platforms that will be affected, according to public television DR.
The Executive opens the door for children aged 13 and 14 to have access to these networks if their parents authorize it, but the Minister of Digitalization, Caroline Stage, has stressed that in no case can the “digital life” of minors be left in the hands of these platforms.
“We have been too naive,” has declared Stage, which hopes that children “are not governed by notifications and ‘likes’ but by curiosity about healthy environments.”
The Government, however, has not established a precise calendar to try to promote this reform, which could be the subject of debate ahead of the 2026 legislative elections.
